3 Ways You Can Help With The Supreme Court Buffer Zone Ruling

June 26, 2014 — Today, the Supreme Court ruled to overturn a Massachusetts state law establishing a 35-foot buffer  zone in which no protests or demonstrations are permitting during operating hours of health centers.

We are extremely disappointed that the Supreme Court has failed to uphold this essential public safety measurePlanned Parenthood has seen firsthand how obstruction, harassment and intimidation outside reproductive health centers can threaten public safety and interfere with women’s access to care.

It’s unclear at this time how this ruling will affect the buffer zones in Burlington, VT, Portland, ME and in the state of New Hampshire. We are taking a close look at this ruling, as well as patient protection laws around the country, to ensure that women can continue to make their own health care decisions without fear of harassment or intimidation.

In the meantime, here is how you can help:

1.  Donate – donations to our Action Funds help to pass and defeat legislation, elect public officials, and influence the political climate in northern New England.

2.  Volunteer – we have many positions available, including patient greeters outside of our health centers.

3.  Become an Activist– sign up for our emails and stay up-to-date on all issues related to reproductive health care.
