Sign the petition – protect patient safety in Burlington, VT

July 3, 2014 – In a serious blow to women’s health, the US Supreme Court struck down Massachusetts’ common sense buffer zone ordinance for health centers.

Certain parts of the existing Burlington ordinance are still intact; protestors cannot obstruct, detain, hinder, impede or otherwise block a person’s entry to a reproductive health care facility.

However, last month’s ruling removes basic protections for accessing health care and opened the door for zealots to bully, harass and intimidate women.

Send a clear message to the City Council that the strongest protections available need to be a top priority.

The next few weeks will be critical for patient safety in Burlington .

On Monday, July 14th at 7 p.m.,  The Burlington City Council will be taking important next steps on how to continue to protect patient safety. We applaud the City for upholding the enforcement of obstructing a person’s entry to a reproductive health care facility.

If the courts won’t protect women, we will – tell your councilors that protecting patient safety needs to be a top priority and help ensure safe access to health care.

Other ways you can help:

1.  Donate – donations to our Action Funds help to pass and defeat legislation, elect public officials, and influence the political climate in northern New England.

2.  Volunteer – we have many positions available, including patient greeters outside of our health centers.

3.  Become an Activist– sign up for our emails and stay up-to-date on all issues related to reproductive health care.
